What is a notary’s purpose?

  • To assist in the prevention of fraud for the State and People of Colorado
  • To ensure authenticity of a document by notarizing via Acknowledgment or Jurat that it is in fact signed by the identified signer in the document
  • To ensure that a person is not subject to duress or forced to sign something they don’t want to sign for any reason

Who says a notary can be a notary?

A notary in Colorado is an appointed official by the Colorado Secretary of State after training and a mandatory exam.

How do I figure out how much the service will cost?

Refer to the fees for services and pricing in the Square booking app.

  • Check your paperwork for any notary wording, $5 each stamp
  • Applicable travel fee
  • Same Day and Immediate Service have additional fees

What forms of payment do you accept?

  • Cash
  • Venmo
  • Zelle
  • Checks from companies only on negotiated payment terms

Will you give a receipt?

All receipts are delivered electronically via email or text.

I forgot my wallet/purse/ID at home and need to get this to the courthouse within the hour. Can I just have you notarize the document and come back with my ID?

  • NO, YOU NEED A VALID PHOTO ID TO GET ANYTHING NOTARIZED AT THE TIME OF THE NOTARIZATION
  • Driver’s License, State Issued ID, Military ID, Passport
  • A notary public is not allowed to notarize the document without first screening the identification provided by the signer
  • Other arrangements can be made to meet once the customer has their ID (additional travel fee may apply)

I have paperwork that needs to be filled out and notarized but I have no idea where to begin? Can you fill them out for me?

  • It is illegal for the notary to prepare such legal paperwork for the customer, then notarize
  • It is an unauthorized practice of law that can lead to the notary being fined, imprisoned, or both!
  • I can give guidance on what the purpose of the documents but you must determine if the document is needed for your situation, the notary cannot determine that for you

I have something I want notarized but it doesn’t have any notary wording. Can you still notarize it?

  • Yes, but understand that a loose certificate will be stapled to said document and must never come unattached
  • You need to choose if a Jurat or Acknowledgment is needed
    • To determine what kind of notarization is needed
      • Ask the place you got the document from or taking it to, OR
      • Make a judgment based on your situation and the wording of each certificate
      • I can give guidance on purpose of each certificate and you can choose from there

I haven’t filled out the paperwork yet. Can you notarize it and I will fill it out later?

  • No, you will need to have all lines filled out
    • NO BLANK SPACES
    • If something does not apply put N/A
  • Depending on the notary wording, it may require that you swear that the contents of the document are factual and true
    • If you don’t have anything written you can’t swear to it being true
    • It also leaves the document open to fraud to leave blanks
    • Someone could come along later and add information you did not agree to

You may fill the document out but wait until in front of the notary to sign on any signature lines. 

 

Can I email or fax or email the document(s) over to have you notarize it?

  • You may send faxes to (303) 200-8827
  • You may send an attachment via email to bamundsenrealestate@gmail.com
  • Do not sign the document prior to sending.
  • You will still need to meet with the notary in person with your Valid Photo ID to notarize the signature on the document.
  • If you do not have a printer, printing is available included in the Home Office Convenience fee up to 25 pages at my office.
